Some more pics

Went and saw 'Rent' the musical put on by the North Queensland Opera and Muscial Theatre Company. By far the most professional amateur show I have ever seen! Plenty of familiar faces from when I lived here 8 years ago, but all grown up some more and sounding and acting better than ever!!

I have a few more pics for you. Once again, a bit out of order, but that's something only I would have a problem with anyway I guess.......... :)
The sun has finally come out today after a week of rain and overcast weather, quite out of character for Townsville at this time of year!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :)

Nice day for a stroll in the rainforest............. Posted by Picasa

These are called 'Grass trees' (you're not allowed to call them 'Black Boys' anymore because it's not politically correct, even though they got that name from an Aboriginal legend..) Posted by Picasa

Rainforest at Paluma - we nearly got rained on, but there was an overall eerie feeling with all the mist. Very 'Lord of the Ringsh-ish'. Posted by Picasa

Bonjour!!

Comment ca va? Christine and I had a 'tres bon' long Easter Weekend, doing all the touristy things that Townsville has to offer (well, not quite all of them!). I have put a few photos on now, and I have at least as many to add when I get some more time. Christine is an awesome lass, who I met in the Orchestra pit in Warragul, playing for Singing in the Rain about 3 years ago. We started hanging out a bit mroe last year and get up to all sorts of exciting adventures, so it was really great to have a visit from her!! We explored Magnetic Island for a couple of days, and also checked out a Gallery exhibition about North Queensland in the Second World War, the Museum of Tropical North Queensland (needed another whole day to do that justice!), and also some beautiful tropical rainforest at Paluma just north of Townsville. It was an action packed 4 days, but some of the highlights were the meals we had - we found a genuine french restaurant on Maggie Island and had several other delicious meals, some of which were photo worthy!
My brain is not quite sharp enough to get the chronology right, as everything I put on here sort of goes backwards order when you view it, so it's all over the place really!
Anyway, here are some, and there are more to follow.....................

Not a bad view at all! Posted by Picasa

This was my adrenaline rush for the day - you can't appreciate the very deep gap between these two rocks in this photo.......... Posted by Picasa

..and luckily for me there was a ledge a little way down that hole! Posted by Picasa

The Big gun base and Fort. The gun was placed on the 'cheese' in the centre, and there is a rail line around the perimeter, so it could be turned 360 degrees if any Japanese ships were spotted from various other lookouts in the vicinity. Posted by Picasa
